Terms & Conditions

General Equestrian Terms & Conditions

  • Horse riding is a risk sport and handling horses can be potentially dangerous. We take great care to ensure that all of our horses are well trained and reliable, but they are hired to the rider with the clear understanding that you ride entirely at your own risk.
  • All riders must fill in an assessment form before they ride. It is essential to be honest about your riding ability and weight for your own safety. In many cases, particularly if we don’t know you, you may need to undertake a performance review so we can establish your ability. Cross Country Riders must complete form online when booking and Trekking Riders will fill in the form in person on the day of their trek.
  • Bookings are accepted on the basis that riders do not suffer from any illness or disability which could prejudice their safety on horseback.
  • Approved riding hats and shoes or boots with a small heel must be worn to ride. Riding hats must also be worn when leading horses or in the stable area.
  • Open toed shoes and sandals are not allowed on the yard.
  • Slades Farm will not be responsible for loss and/or damage of personal items during any of our treks or on the Cross Country Course or Farm yard.
  • No dogs are allowed onsite, on the Cross Country Course or accompanying the treks.
  • Except in respect of death or personal injury caused by our negligence, we shall not be liable to you by reason of any duty at common law or under the express term of our contract with you, for any loss or damage, cost or expenses which arrive out of or in connection with your use of any Slades Farm Equestrian facility.

Trekking

  • In the event that a rider is not capable of the riding required for a particular trek, Slades Farm reserves the right to request that a rider not commence and/or continue that trek. In this instance, the rider will be offered a trek suitable to their abilities and no refund will be available.
  • The Half-Day and Full-Day Treks require an intermediate or advanced riding ability. Slades Farm will assess all riders before departing. If a rider is not capable of the riding required, Slades Farm reserves the right to request that the rider not commence with that trek. In this instance, the rider will be offered a trek suitable to their abilities and no refund will be available. Determining the level of experience and/or suitability of a rider is done at the sole discretion of Slades Farm.
  • All treks are subject to availability. Slades Farm reserves the right to cancel and/or reschedule any trek for any reason at any time. In the event that a cancellation is made, all deposits and/or any part of the total balance that has been paid will be refunded in full in the same manner in which it was originally paid. After this, Slades Farm is under no further obligation.
  • Please arrive at least 15 minutes early for your ride to allow time for assessment or other administration requirements.
  • In the unlikely event that a ride runs late because of instructors or horses not being ready on time, you will receive your full time. However, if the ride runs late because you arrive late, it will finish on time.
  • During a ride, please respect the commands of the instructors; they know their horses and aim to keep both you and the horses safe.
  • All rides must be booked and paid for in advance.
  • Half-Day and Full-Day Treks should also be booked as early as possible. Balance is due at the time of booking.
  • Treks go out in all weather conditions, rain or shine. In the event that Slades Farm has to cancel a trek for any reason, your deposit and/or any part of the total balance that has been paid will be refunded in the manner in which it was originally paid.
