March was an exciting month at Slades.
It saw the launch of the trekking with our open day on the 14th. We had some fabulous attendees, with a healthy press presence!
Guests ranged from complete beginners, who had never even sat on a horse before to experienced riders. Guests enjoyed at 45min taster trek, taking in some of the spectacular views across the estate, followed by drinks and a rustic lunch in our clubhouse.
We were also joined by the photography team of Alex Stanhope and Lee Collins from Flying Rhino Films operating the drone. The images and footage they captured really were both stunning and spectacular.
Meet the team at Slades Farm
As always with new businesses there are many challenges to overcome. The team here at Slades are working daily to ensure unique, enjoyable treks for our clients. The team are:
Ed and Lulu
- Ed’s PA
- Trekking Leader
- Social Media
For the last couple of months Stephanie has been working here too. Steph has been an integral part of getting the polo ponies for and ready for trekking. Steph left us at the end of March to return home to Denmark. Both Steph and her lovely horse Mercury will be missed and we wish them lots of luck for the future.
During the rest of March, Emma, Steph and Sarah have taken out a few treks and there are more bookings coming in daily – we are just hoping for a bit more Sun!
Ed and lulu recently enjoyed an amazing trekking experience themselves in Chile… they looked a little warmer than we were in the snow! It was also very useful to see how trekking companies work abroad.
Cross-Country riding at Slades Farm
The cross-country course is in its final stages of completion, Dom Moore from Jump1 has had a challenging time with the weather, but it is exciting to see new and varied fences arriving all the time! We are all set for the course to open on the 12th April, with our new open day with Lucinda Green on the 17th May.
You can book tickets to this on the event section of our website. (Just go to May on the calendar and select the 17th!).
Fingers crossed that by the time I write April blog I can be in sunglasses and a t-shirt!Back to News
